YoungGuns register first point of the season

Caerau Ely recorded their first point of the new season with a gutsy display against a strong Taffs Well side at Cwrt Yr Ala. The YoungGuns hit the floor running with a fantastic first 10 minutes with a signature freekick from specialist Danny Hooper and then opening up a two goal lead shortly after when a long throw into the box from Lloyd Toghill was met with the head of Rameer Outlaw. Taffs Well then moved back into the game with some quick switches in play as Caerau went in at half time leading 2 - 1 after absorbing a lot of pressure with some great defending.

Taffs Well continued to pressure Caerau throughout the second half and snatched a goal back half way through the second half. Both teams created chances throughout the remainder of the second half but neither side were able to break the deadlock with both teams sharing the points. Some may say it was two points lost or a point gained however with plenty more games remaining in the season with the work ethic of the YoungGuns and leadership of Craig 'Samo' Sampson and his team im sure the results will start to come in and this draw is a base for the YoungGuns to push forward with.

On interview Isaac Berry (First Team Coach) quoted

Before starting I’d like to thank all the players and staff for there hard work over past few weeks. This has been through a tricky period of fixtures in a short space of time.
The start of the first half started fantastic for us with Dan scoring a great free kick and then Ramz scoring off one of our long throws inside ten minutes. For the next part of the half we continued to place real pressure on there goal with corners and long throws constantly going into there box. Shortly after this Taffs Well really started to get into the game a quick switch of play got them down the side for a goal back. Taffs finished the half strong.
This then continued into the second half. Taffs managed to make the scores level half way into the second half. Both teams then went onto create chances for the rest of the second half with neither team finding the answer.
Myself and Samo were gutted we didn’t take all three points. However to register our first point of the season and to score another two goals is a step in the right direction. We now need to use this point as a kick start to move forward. To do this we need to keep having support on the weekend like we did. Friday night sees us take on Ammanford and it would be great to see some friendly faces in what is going to be a tough atmosphere.
We thank you for your support.
